Since the 1960s, Sunnex has transformed from a flashlight manufacturer to a global leader in stainless steel kitchenware, driven by innovation and quality. Led by Dr. Henry Yu, a former General Motors R&D engineer, Sunnex Products redefined its legacy, becoming a trusted name for wholesalers and catering professionals in Hong Kong, the United States, and beyond.
A Shift Towards Stainless Steel Kitchenware
In 1967, Dr. Yu introduced Sunnex’s first stainless steel product—a set of salt and pepper shakers—marking a pivotal shift from declining flashlight production. By 1970, Sunnex Products Ltd. was registered in Hong Kong and the UK, focusing on branded stainless steel kitchenware rather than OEM production. This strategic move laid the foundation for Sunnex’s global reputation.

Expanding Product Lines and Global Success
Sunnex’s early success with condiment sets grew into a diverse range of kitchenware, including coffee pots, tea sets, and tableware by the 1970s. Known for user-friendly designs, such as teaware with wider edges, Sunnex sold over 1 million teaware sets annually in the UK by 1975. This achievement solidified Sunnex’s position as a leader in quality and innovation for catering professionals.

The Rise of Sunnex as a Global Brand
The 1970s and 1980s marked significant expansion. In 1975, Zodiac Stainless Products Co. was established in the UK to serve the European market. By 1987, Sunnex introduced its first oval chafing dish, enhancing its buffetware offerings. These durable, stylish products remain popular in the United States and worldwide, catering to the needs of distributors and hospitality professionals.
